Wine Recipe: The New York Sour

The New York Sour

The classic is always simple and always delicious.

Ingredients:

- 2 oz rye whiskey
- 1 oz freshly-squeezed lemon juice
- ¾ oz simple syrup*
- ½+ oz dry red wine
- 1 egg white

*Simple syrup is made by 1:1 ratio of granulated sugar and water

 

Instructions:

1. Mix the whiskey, lemon juice, syrup and egg white in a cocktail shaker without ice and shake for 30 seconds.
2. Add ice and shake for 30+ seconds. Shake vigorously for better foam.
3. Strain into a lowball glass filled with ice.
4. Float the wine on top by slowly pouring it over a bar spoon.
