Haut

"Haut" is a French term meaning "high" in a geographical sense. 

When added to another name, such as "Haut-Médoc," it indicates that the location is more northerly, situated higher up on a hill or mountain, or further upstream compared to another area. It does not inherently indicate wine quality, just Haut-Médoc is also known as high quality.
