Grape: Carmenere

Grape: Carmenere

Carmenere is a red grape variety that originated in the Bordeaux region of France. In the 19th century, it was mistakenly identified as Merlot when introduced to Chile, and it has since become one of Chile's signature red grapes.

Carmenere is known for its deep color and unique flavor. It can be made into a single-varietal wine or blended with other varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to enhance body and complexity.

Flavor Profile:

Aroma: Carmenere typically exhibits aromas of blackberry, spices, and smoky notes. Wines aged longer may feature rich flavors of chocolate and caramel, while lightly oaked versions often have hints of green pepper and red fruit.

Palate: This red wine is full-bodied and smooth, with moderate tannins and balanced acidity.
