Merlot Caramelized Onion Jam
Every time I see #caramelized onion jam in a burger, I can’t help but drool a little—turns out it’s super easy to make at home! The natural sweetness of onions combined with the rich depth of red wine creates a savory-sweet balance that’s full of flavor and complexity.
Ingredients:
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- ½ cup red wine
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt, pepper, wine vinegar
Instructions:
1. Cook the onions in olive oil over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes, until softened
2. Once the onion turns golden, stir in salt, black pepper, wine vinegar and red wine. Simmer over medium heat until thickened.
