Grape: Torrontés

Grape: Torrontés

Torrontés is a distinctive and aromatic white grape variety, mainly cultivated in Argentina. It produces wines that are fragrant, floral, and vibrant.

Torrontés actually refers to a group of related grape types: Torrontés Riojano and Torrontés Sanjuanino. The Riojano variety is the most widely grown, especially in Argentina, where it thrives in the high-altitude vineyards of the Andes. However, the exact origins of Torrontés are a bit uncertain.

Flavor Profile:

Aroma: Common floral notes include rose, jasmine, and orange blossom. Additionally, there's a spicy touch with hints of lime, grapefruit, peach, and apricot.

Palate: Torrontés wines are generally dry, with a lively acidity and occasionally a slightly oily texture. The fruity flavors are often vivid, with the floral and citrus notes harmonizing with a subtle sweetness. Some wines may also show a hint of minerality.
